Matt Berninger – Bonnet Of Pins

Matt Berninger steps away from The National once again with Bonnet Of Pins, the first glimpse into his upcoming solo album, Get Sunk (out May 30 via Concord Records). The track leans into his signature mix of poetic melancholy and dry humour, wrapped in orchestral swirls.

Lyrically, Berninger dives into miscommunication and longing, sketching out vivid images of polystyrene cups, cigarettes, and emotional near-misses. His unmistakable baritone carries the weight of profound introspection.

Get Sunk follows 2020’s Serpentine Prison, which was shaped by a period of creative struggle that Berninger has described as “a long period of writer’s block and self-disgust.” The album features contributions from Meg Duffy (Hand Habits), Julia Laws (Ronboy), Kyle Resnick (The National, Beirut), and legend Booker T. Jones

Alongside the album, Berninger has announced a string of tour dates across the US, UK, and Europe.
